Ford Talks Affordability In Carson City, Reno, and Sparks On Working Class First Tour
On Wednesday, Attorney General Aaron Ford alongside Senator Angie Taylor and Assemblywoman Natha Anderson held town halls in Carson City and Sparks, hosted a happy hour with young voters in Reno, and dropped off canned goods donated by event attendees to the Northern Nevada Food Bank as a part of his Working Class First statewide listening tour. Ford spoke with Nevadans about how the Lombardo-Trump economy is failing working families and how their policies have exacerbated the ongoing affordability crisis.
Under Joe Lombardo, housing costs in Nevada are at record highs and Nevadans are having to donate blood just to pay rent. Lombardo vetoed a bill that would have lowered prescription drug prices while prescription drug prices have risen faster in Nevada than anywhere else in the nation. As a quarter of Nevada’s children experience food insecurity, Lombardo vetoed a bill that would have guaranteed school meals and put money back in parents’ pockets.
Ford’s tour will stretch across all 17 counties and focus on lowering costs for working families and making Nevada more affordable. This tour will allow Ford the opportunity to connect with local leaders, community members, and working families in every corner of the state to discuss the issues that matter most to them.

KOLO: Attorney General Aaron Ford hearing concerns from Nevadans in Sparks
Attorney General Aaron Ford is hosting several community events throughout Nevada to talk with local leaders and community members about the issues they are most concerned about in our region.
“Working families are struggling to make their mortgage payments. They’re struggling to make their car payments,” says AG Ford. “They’re struggling to make payments for things they need every single day. Homelessness and housing costs are at record highs. There are literally Nevadans out there right now. You might know some of them. I read the stories, but you may know some of them who are actually donating their blood to pay their rent and there’s no sign of relief in sight.”
“People are paying more for early childcare than they are for colleges right now. That’s a huge issue and that’s having an impact on people’s ability to work,” says State Assembly Member for District 30 Natha Anderson.
Each event also doubles as a canned food drive. Ford says these donations will go to local organizations in need to help families in need put food on the table.
KTVN: Attorney General Aaron Ford visits Carson City as a part of his campaign for governor
Attorney General Aaron Ford is using his gubernatorial campaign tour to have person-to-person conversations.
"Everything is more expensive, everything is up right now, whether it's gas, whether it's groceries, whether it's rent, whether it's medical bills, whether it's unemployment, and these are things Nevadans all across the state have talked to me about, and those are things we're going to address," said Ford.
Ford says the Governor vetoed several pro-worker bills during the most recent legislative session. This includes declining extended paid family leave and raising weekly wages protected from debt collection for Nevada workers.
"I think at the end of the day Nevadans deserve a Governor who's going to be working for the entire Nevadan family, who's going to be addressing needs that they have voiced out loud that they want to be addressed. Not someone who's afraid to stand up to Donald Trump, not someone who's going to kowtow at every turn to Donald Trump," said Ford.
