ICYMI: Ford Reaffirms Commitment to Being Most Pro-Worker Governor in Nevada History If Elected
On the heels of earning the endorsements of Culinary Union 226 and AFL-CIO, Attorney General Aaron Ford spent last week with Nevada workers, touring union facilities and local small businesses and talking about how he will fight for working people as Governor.
Ford toured a Painters Local 16 training facility, met with Teamsters Local 14 to talk about how he’ll promote Registered Apprenticeship Programs and vocational training programs, and held a roundtable at SEIU Local 1107 with union leaders to discuss Nevada’s economic future. Ford also went behind the scenes of a kitchen shift at Esmeralda’s Restaurant and visited Mario’s WestSide Market to talk about how he’ll lower costs for families and small businesses.
“It’s always a pleasure to be with my labor brothers and sisters—they’re the people I’ve fought for my whole career in public service,” said Attorney General Aaron Ford. “As I visited unions and small businesses, I heard the same story I’ve heard just about every day on the campaign trail and as your Attorney General: the Lombardo-Trump economy is making it impossible for people to live. Their money is stretched tighter, their stress is higher, and the opportunities they see before them are shrinking. It’s time to bring the American Dream back to Nevada, and that’s what I’m running for Governor to do."
Attorney General Ford has built his campaign for Governor around uplifting union and small business workers like the ones he spent time with yesterday. His ‘Affordable Nevada’ agenda will help working Nevadans afford to call Nevada home by capping the cost of prescription drugs, cancelling medical debt, slashing security deposits, helping first-time buyers afford a home, halting the illegal demand charge price hike, and encouraging new developments to hire union so that Nevada continues to be built up by gold-standard union labor. Additionally, Ford’s ‘Student Success Plan’ calls for an unprecedented buildout of union Registered Apprenticeship Programs and vocational training programs, so that all Nevadans can realize their dreams no matter what they may be.
