DURING HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH, AARON FORD LAUNCHES SPANISH LANGUAGE WEBSITE TO SPEAK DIRECTLY TO NEVADA’S LATINO COMMUNITY

“Nevada’s Latino community isn’t just part of our state’s story; it is helping write what comes next.”

Las Vegas, NV - As Nevada celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, Attorney General Aaron Ford today announced the launch of the Spanish-language version of his campaign website, expanding access to information about his record, his story, and his plans to make Nevada more affordable for working families.

The launch recognizes a simple reality: Nevada’s Latino community is a powerful and growing part of the state, and Latino families deserve to have direct access, in Spanish, to information about the people asking for their vote and the decisions that will affect their lives.

“Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of a community that helps make Nevada what it is today. But it should also be a time to recognize the power this community has to shape where our state goes next,” said Attorney General Aaron Ford. “Latinos are our teachers, small-business owners, construction workers, health care professionals, hospitality workers, entrepreneurs, students, parents and neighbors. They are helping build Nevada every single day, and they deserve leaders who listen to them, show up for them and communicate with them directly.”

Ford’s new Spanish-language website gives Spanish-speaking Nevadans an opportunity to learn more about his personal story, his record as Nevada Attorney General and his plans for the state, including proposals to lower housing and health care costs, protect consumers, bring down energy bills, strengthen public education, support small businesses and create more opportunities for Nevada families.

For Ford, communicating in Spanish is also about making participation in our democracy more accessible.

“Language should never be a barrier to knowing where your leaders stand or understanding the decisions that could affect your family,” Ford said. “If I’m asking someone for their vote, I have a responsibility to make sure they can learn who I am, what I’ve done and what I intend to do as governor. That means meeting people where they are and speaking to communities with the respect they deserve.”
