ICYMI: Ford Highlights How Trump Ripped Away Food And Health Care With Joe Lombardo’s Support

Yesterday, Attorney General Aaron Ford spoke at local grocery store and food pantry about how Trump’s so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill”, supported by Joe Lombardo, has ripped away food assistance and health care from hundreds of thousands of Nevadans and robbed our state of sorely needed resources.

Attorney General Ford was joined by Pastor DeWayne McCoy, the owner of The After Market, as well as Irma Lopez, a home health care worker.

“The past year since the [signing of the] Big Beautiful Bill has been a big beautiful mess for our community and the mission of The After Market,” said Pastor DeWayne McCoy. “We’ve served about 4,300 households in the past year, 2,500 of which never had to use a [food] pantry prior to these changes in our nation and our community.”

“Let’s be clear: this budget bill has gutted Nevada’s health care system. My patients aren’t able to access the care they need. Families can’t afford life-saving medications. Health care workers are losing their jobs,” said Irma Lopez, home health care worker. “Health care workers like myself can actually trust Ford to fight for us and put money back in our pockets, not the 1 percent.”

Joe Lombardo said Nevadans should be “excited” about this GOP tax scam despite Nevada being one of the hardest hit by the bill’s funding and health care cuts. Over 100,000 Nevadans are estimated to lose their health care to help fund their billionaire tax cuts and over 50,000 have already lost coverage. Over 70,000 Nevadans have already lost food assistance since the OBBBA’s passage. An estimated 100,000 Nevadans are at risk of losing or seeing reductions in SNAP food benefits because of Trump’s cuts to food assistance that Joe Lombardo supported.

Attorney General Ford is running on an ‘Affordable Nevada’ agenda to slash the costs of basic essentials for working families and lead Nevada out of the failures of the Lombardo-Trump economy. He has rolled out plans to provide guaranteed school meals for Nevada’s students, end the scourge of families going bankrupt paying for medical bills, slash the cost of prescription drugs instead of selling out to the Big Pharma execs keeping them high, like Joe Lombardo does, stop Wall Street from taking over our neighborhoods and buying up single family homes, and stop NV energy’s demand charge that Joe Lombardo supports and his appointees approved.
