Amid Skyrocketing Gas Prices, Aaron Ford Slams Joe Lombardo for Supporting Trump’s Iran War
Yesterday, following the average cost of a gallon of gas in Nevada having exploded to $5.00 a gallon and the cost of diesel surging past the 2022 record to over $6 a gallon this week, Attorney General Aaron Ford spoke at a Las Vegas gas station about surging gas prices caused by Donald Trump’s Iran War and supported by Joe Lombardo that are crushing Nevada families.
“This is an unacceptable burden that Trump is forcing Nevadans to bear, with Joe Lombardo’s full support,” said Aaron Ford, Nevada Attorney General and candidate for Governor. “I’m running for Governor to lead us out of the mess that Joe Lombardo and his friend Donald Trump have created. As Governor, my top priority will be ensuring that Nevada families can comfortably afford to fill up their tanks at the pump, buy a week’s worth of groceries, pay their rent, mortgage, and bills, and get medical care when they need it.”
Trump’s war, which Joe Lombardo supports, has now caused the average gas price in Nevada to increase nearly $1.50 more than the average of $3.54 per gallon that Nevadans were paying before Trump declared war on Iran in February. For Nevadans already struggling to afford basic essentials in Joe Lombardo’s failing economy, this gas price increase is an unbearable burden.
“Every time I go to the gas station, I just feel my stomach hurt,” said Barbie Andersen O'Quinn, a resident of Las Vegas. “There are things I just can’t afford anymore. I’m having to cut back on one of my medications because of how much I’m spending on gas. Everything has gone up since Lombardo took office.”
“I’m afraid to spend money on gas that I need for groceries or prescription drugs, or for my mortgage,” said Donna West, a resident of Las Vegas. “We need someone who’s going to fight for the average Nevadan, and that person is Aaron Ford.”
Ford is running for Governor to lead Nevada out of the mess that Joe Lombardo and Donald Trump have created. His ‘Affordable Nevada’ platform focuses on putting money back in Nevadans’ pockets through measures to help Nevada families afford a home, receive the medical care they need at a low cost, and be able to access plentiful, cheap energy. As Governor, Ford will also enact a measure banning companies from artificially raising the price of essentials like gas—a measure that Joe Lombardo previously vetoed.

“Nevada has experienced the fifth highest jump in gas prices in the country. It’s a spike that Attorney General Aaron Ford aims to curb.”
“The Democrat says he’s issued a warning to gas companies not to price fix during this time of economic uncertainty—a proposal that would have included other essentials in goods and services, but he says it was vetoed by Governor Lombardo and he says it’s causing a trickle-down effect for working families.”
