NEW: Lombardo Caught Lying Again, “Dems for Lombardo” Member Supports Aaron Ford
After Joe Lombardo touted his “Democrats for Lombardo” sham, a member of the group is now coming forward saying Lombardo added his name despite the fact that he’s supporting Aaron Ford for governor.
Carlos Campbell Perez’ name was added to Lombardo’s group just days after he published an op-ed in Spanish supporting Ford’s candidacy. In his op-ed, Carlos wrote that “Aaron Ford, as Attorney General, has taken a strong stance in defending consumers, fighting the abuses that drive up the cost of our healthcare and our homes… he understands that a strong Nevada is built from the ground up, by supporting those who sustain the economy with their sweat”.
This is the latest example of Lombardo’s campaign squandering their credibility in increasingly desperate attempts to blunt AG Ford’s momentum. This month, the Lombardo campaign attempted to manufacture a fake controversy, raising serious questions about the campaign illegally using the Governor’s office to make a political attack. Last month, in a definitive fact check, KTNV ruled that “the accusations that appear in some of the [Better Nevada PAC’s] ads aren't true.” Following KTNV’s fact check, a video was discovered featuring a worker from BNP’s attack ad admitting that he “did it for the money” and “ended up voting for [Aaron Ford] anyway.”
Lombardo is the most vulnerable Republican governor up for re-election and has said himself that he’s “not enough of a motivator” to turn out voters this fall. Lombardo is running scared and looking for anything to energize his failing campaign including stooping to false smear campaigns, using taxpayer resources to attack political opponents, and even lying about the amount of support they’ve received.
“Falsely claiming the support of an Aaron Ford endorser is a pathetic new low even for the Lombardo campaign,” said Prerna Jagadeesh, spokesperson for Ford for Governor. “Lombardo has no plan to help Nevadans struggling to afford to live in his failed economy and nothing to run on other than being Nevada’s biggest roadblock to affordability, which is why he’s resorting to increasingly desperate lies like this.”
