ICYMI: AFL-CIO Endorses Aaron Ford for Governor

Attorney General Aaron Ford has secured the endorsement of the Nevada AFL-CIO in his campaign for Governor, in recognition of his unwavering record of supporting workers and unions by defending prevailing wage laws, protecting project labor agreements, and fighting to ensure that Nevada jobs go to skilled union workers.

“I always say that Nevada’s union workers built the middle class and made Las Vegas the entertainment capital of the world, and I am honored to have the Nevada AFL-CIO and the over 120 unions they count as members join me in building this campaign,” said Aaron Ford, Attorney General of Nevada and candidate for Governor. “From my time as a State Senator to my current role as Attorney General of Nevada, I have consistently fought for pro-union policy measures to pay workers competitively, hire locally, and ensure all workers' rights are respected. As Governor, I will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Nevada’s workers on both the picket line and the front lines fighting back attacks by Donald Trump and predatory corporations."

As Governor, Ford will support Project Labor Agreements, prevailing wage standards, and Community Benefits Agreements to ensure that Nevada employers hire local, pay fairly, and respect workers’ skills and expertise. Ford will also invest in Registered Apprenticeship Programs, helping broaden awareness of these programs and pushing for developers to partner with them so that early-career working Nevadans can get a foot in the door.

“The Nevada AFL-CIO is proud to endorse Aaron Ford, a dedicated longtime champion of unions and workers,” said Liz Sorenson, President of the Nevada AFL-CIO. “From his days in the State Senate to his current role as our Attorney General, AG Ford has had our backs not just in words, but in his actions. He has shown up for our priorities and needs time and time again, and we’re excited to show up in support of his campaign for Governor.”

Ford’s campaign is supported by a broad and growing coalition of elected leaders, labor, education, and advocacy organizations – including Nevada’s entire Democratic federal delegation, a majority of state legislators, and other leaders from across the state. Ford has also been endorsed by CWA Local 9413, IBEW 401, IBEW 357, UAW Region 6, Operating Engineers Local 3, Laborers’ Union Local 169, AFSCME Local 4041, Ironworkers Local 433, Bricklayers Local 13, SEIU Local 1107, Reproductive Freedom for All, Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte, Nevada NOW, Nevada State Education Association, Washoe Education Association, Nevada Conservation League, and others – all citing Ford’s record on affordability and workers’ rights, as well as his vision for a strong, diversified economic future.

Attorney General Ford has a Proven Track Record of Fighting for Nevada Workers and Uplifting Working Families:

  • As Senate Majority Leader, Ford supported efforts to expand collective bargaining rights to state workers in Nevada.

  • Also while he was Senate Majority Leader, Ford fought to protect prevailing wage and project labor agreements.

  • Ford led efforts to raise Nevada’s minimum wage to $12 an hour as a State Senator.

  • As Attorney General, Ford has gone after corporate landlords jacking up prices on renters.

  • He passed legislation to crack down on price-fixing of essential goods like rent and groceries.

  • He’s prosecuted those who have scammed our most vulnerable, including Nevada seniors.
