Aaron Ford Slams Lombardo-Trump Tariffs for “Pain” Inflicted on Nevada’s Economy
Today, Attorney General Aaron Ford, alongside a small business owner, Regina Simmons, held a press conference slamming the Lombardo-Trump tariffs for wreaking havoc on Nevada’s economy. Last week, Ford successfully defeated Trump’s unconstitutional tariffs in court – nearly one year after Joe Lombardo said Nevadans should “feel a little pain” from them.
A recent report found that Trump’s tariffs, which Governor Lombardo wholly supported, cost families an average of $1,744.75 per household in 2025. Another recent report found that inflation under President Trump cost Nevada families more than $1,700 last year. Under the Lombardo-Trump economy, costs are up, tourism is plummeting, and economists warn that “any recession would likely hit Nevada harder and faster.”
Last week, while Lombardo stood by Trump as he unveiled new tariffs, Ford called on the President to refund Nevada families who were unlawfully taxed by his struck down tariffs.
“Donald Trump’s time in office has already devastated Nevada’s economy,” said Regina Simmons, owner of Tacotarian. “Trump’s tariffs have hurt our small businesses a lot. What we’ve seen over the past couple of years is that prices have gone crazy. Our small businesses just can’t uphold this.”
