PRESS RELEASE

Ford Slams Lombardo, Trump for Cheerleading Data Centers

In response to Trump saying communities that push back against data centers will be “backwards and poor," Attorney General Aaron Ford released the following statement:

“Trump just called data centers a “golden goose,” echoing Joe Lombardo calling them a “gold rush” after he gave them $240 million in tax breaks. It’s no surprise that Lombardo and Trump are data centers’ biggest cheerleaders: they share the same billionaire donor getting even richer off of data centers while Nevadans’ electric bills get even higher.

“Reality check: what’s actually making Nevadans poor is data centers jacking up their bills, and what’s actually “backwards” is Lombardo and Trump backing the data centers draining Nevada’s tax dollars and natural resources without any proof that they’re delivering on their commitments to Nevada. Unlike Lombardo, I’ll pause data center tax breaks, block them from raising costs, and make them pay up.”
