PRESS RELEASE

Attorney General Ford Responds to President Trump’s State of The Union Address

Attorney General Aaron Ford released the following statement on President Trump’s State of the Union Address:

“The President promised to lower costs on day one and he has done the opposite. Donald Trump and Joe Lombardo can claim that things are fine all they want but Nevadans know the truth because they’re living it every single day: Families are stretched thin, living paycheck to paycheck, and struggling to afford rent, mortgages, groceries, and gas.

“Under the Lombardo-Trump economy, Nevada has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. Homelessness is rising. Health care costs are climbing. Tourism is down. State revenues are falling. Nevada has lagged behind the rest of the nation in job growth. And at a time when our classrooms are already among the most overcrowded and underfunded in America, Lombardo doubled down -- endorsing Trump’s plan to dismantle the Department of Education and rip resources away from our kids.

“Nevadans are looking for leaders who will put their families first, and that’s exactly what I’ll do as Governor. I’ll expand economic opportunity and create good-paying jobs, lower costs, guarantee school meals, and take on predatory corporations pricing Nevadans out of their homes. That’s the future we all deserve here in Nevada, and that’s how we move our state forward – together.”
