Aaron Ford for Nevada Governor

PRESS RELEASE

NEW: Ford Calls On Trump To Issue $2,000 ‘Pain at the Pump’ Refunds, Invites Lombardo To Co-Sign

Today, Attorney General Aaron Ford announced he is sending Donald Trump a letter demanding a $2,000 “Pain at the Pump” refund for every Nevada household for the gas price spike caused by his Iran War – and is challenging Joe Lombardo to co-sign the letter. After Lombardo asked Trump to spend more taxpayer dollars to fund the war, recent reports found that Trump’s war has cost Nevada families more than $2,000.

“Nevadans are paying $5.40 a gallon on average, and $5.60 in Reno. For a family in Henderson or Sparks commuting to work, a rancher in Elko or Ely hauling feed, or a rideshare driver on the Las Vegas Strip, that is money coming out of their grocery budgets, utility bills, and car payments to pay for the effects of your war in Iran,” said Attorney General Aaron Ford. “Despite Governor Lombardo’s relentless support for Trump’s war with Iran and him asking the President to spend more taxpayer dollars to fund it, I am urging the Governor to change course and use his direct line of communication to the White House to force the President to end his costly war.”

Ford is calling on Lombardo to put partisanship aside and co-sign his letter to Trump calling for Pain at the Pump refunds. Given the massive amount of financial pain the Iran War Lombardo supports has caused Nevadans, it is incumbent upon him to co-sign Ford’s letter calling for relief.

Ford has fought the war’s soaring costs from the start, while Lombardo has defended Trump’s war every step of the way and even called for more taxpayer money to be spent on it. Ford slammed Trump’s war in early March and warned gas companies not to use the resulting gas price surge as an excuse to artificially inflate gas prices even further. He has since spoken out in numerous videos and media appearances, calling on Trump to end his war of choice so gas prices can come back down. Lombardo, on the other hand, rushed out a statement of support for Trump’s Iran War in early March and wrote to Trump in July calling for another $70 billion in taxpayer dollars to be burned on the war.
