Ford Blasts Joe Lombardo For Vetoing Guaranteed School Meals On National School Lunch Week

Attorney General Aaron Ford released the following statement for National School Lunch Week:

“National School Lunch Week is a time each year when we honor the importance of children being fueled well at school in order for them to be able to learn. Unfortunately, Joe Lombardo vetoed a bill that would have guaranteed school meals for Nevada students, forcing Washoe County parents to go into more than $200,000 in debt over school meals. This is from the man who gave $240 million in tax breaks to data centers, spent $25 million on new office furniture, and wants to funnel another $70 billion of taxpayer dollars towards Trump’s Iran War causing gas prices to skyrocket.

“As someone who knows what it’s like to go hungry and later taught kids with empty bellies, I know that there’s nothing more necessary than feeding our kids. I’m running for Governor to guarantee school meals and truly set our students up for success. When I’m crafting my budget as Governor, Nevadans can count on me to prioritize our children’s wellbeing – not “taking care of” Trump’s “billionaire friends” like Lombardo.”
