Today, Attorney General Aaron Ford announced that UAW Region 6 endorsed his campaign for governor. UAW Region 6 represents over 125,000 active and retired workers across the western states, including thousands of auto workers, casino workers, and retirees in Nevada, and thousands more in the NSHE system who are fighting to form a union.

“I’m proud to have the endorsement of UAW Region 6, and the grad workers at NSHE,” said Attorney General Aaron Ford. “I’ve been in their shoes. As a former graduate assistant, I understand the struggles of balancing work, school, and family – and still having to worry about paying the bills. As Governor, I will work side-by-side with union workers to demand better wages, good health care, and the right to retire with dignity. And I’ll sign pro-worker legislation that makes life easier for hardworking Nevadans fighting to get ahead.”

“Our union NGSW-UAW has endorsed Attorney General Ford for Governor because he is a fighter for the working class in Nevada,” said Krista Diamond, who is a graduate assistant in the English department at UNLV. “He understands the affordability crisis confronting academic workers and other workers across the state. He will lead the charge to expand collective bargaining rights to NSHE workers like us and support workers winning fair contracts with their employers. He has pledged to defend international scholars and support working parents. He will fight to expand state investment in public education and research throughout Nevada.”

Ford’s campaign is supported by a broad and growing coalition of elected leaders, labor, education, and advocacy organizations – including Nevada’s entire Democratic federal delegation and a majority of state legislators. Ford has also been endorsed by CWA Local 9413, IBEW 401, Nevada State Educators Association, Washoe Educators Association, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Reproductive Freedom for All, and End Citizens United.
