ICYMI: Ford Speaks Out on Record-High Diesel And Crushing Gas Prices in Nevada
Last week, Attorney General Aaron Ford held a press conference to speak about the need to lower gas prices for Nevada families. This comes as gas prices surged past $5.19 a gallon on average in Nevada, while diesel prices reached over $6.65 a gallon statewide, according to AAA. Ford is focused on finding ways to lower costs at the pump and put more money back in the pockets of Nevada families.
Throughout Trump’s Iran war, Attorney General Ford has warned gas companies not to price fix in the midst of this Lombardo-Trump economic crisis. Ford believes the impact of high gas prices extends beyond the pump. Rising fuel costs create a ripple effect, making it more expensive to get to work, run errands, and spend time with family. For families already struggling to make ends meet, that can mean making impossible choices, like choosing between filling up the gas tank, paying rent, or filling a prescription. Ford's Affordable Nevada plan is focused on lowering the cost of necessities, from housing and health care to energy and everyday essentials.

KOLO: Gas prices come to Nevada’s Gubernatorial race
At his press conference on Friday, Nevada Democratic gubernatorial candidate Aaron Ford said there’s a trickle-down effect with gas prices.
Ford says Lombardo backs the war with Iran even when everyone knew what would happen to gas prices. Ford says as governor he’ll be working for Nevadans full-time--and not Donald Trump.
One woman we talked to says gas prices have an impact on how she earns a paycheck.
“I had to stop working so much because I am a delivery driver,” says Lizette Arroyo, a Reno resident. “So, I had to cut down an all of that…ridiculous, extremely high."

Ford says he will work to lower gas prices for people in the Silver State, and says what he calls the Lombardo-Trump economy has let prices get too out of hand for working people.
He said the high cost of gas is making Nevadans struggle with paying for so many other things, causing a domino effect they can't stop.
Ford also said, "This gas price surge is also getting to send the price of energy soaring even further, and as Nevadans know all too well, energy costs here are already sky high."
People we spoke with told us their budget for gas has taken over their monthly income, having to fill up every week.
Arianna Yoder, a Reno resident of 16 years, told us, "Whether it's gas, groceries, anything, it is so hard to be able to focus on one thing and be able to afford all of those things. When we have to literally focus on hoping that we can get from point A to point B."

The Democratic attorney general is running against incumbent Republican Joe Lombardo for governor. He said gas is one more price hike piled atop many others that working families can’t afford.
“I’m running for governor to make stuff cost less, ensure working Nevadans can actually afford to live in Nevada, and stand up to Trump’s insane cost-raising agenda,” Ford said.
According to auto club AAA, as of Sept. 18, diesel costs $6.71 cents per gallon on average in Nevada, with the average price in the Reno area at $7.03.
Regular gas prices are also spiking. In the past month, the average cost of regular gasoline has risen 57 cents a gallon to $5.60 in Reno.
The spikes come as the war in Iran continues to affect oil shipments.
