WATCH: Ford Slams Lombardo Being Bought And Paid For By Data Centers In New TV Ads
Today, Attorney General Ford’s campaign for Governor is releasing two new TV ads highlighting Joe Lombardo’s ties to the data centers draining Nevadans’ water and sending their electricity bills soaring. The first ad, “Build,” highlights how Lombardo has funneled over $240 million of Nevadans’ tax dollars to big data center companies. The second, “Wholeheartedly,” highlights Lombardo in his own words saying he’s “wholeheartedly in support of data centers” as his campaign is bankrolled by more than $2 million in data center donations.
Joe Lombardo and Donald Trump share the same MAGA billionaire data center donors, so it’s no surprise that despite Nevadans voicing their dissatisfaction, Lombardo has called data centers a “gold rush” and cheerleads for their unrestricted development.
Two weeks ago, Ford launched his data center accountability agenda, that pauses tax breaks for data centers, blocks them from raising Nevadans’ costs, makes them pay for their own energy and bring their own water, and gives communities a real seat at the table. Ford released a video highlighting his plan, held a press conference last week slamming Lombardo’s data center ties, and held a town hall last night where he spoke directly with Nevadans suffering under Joe Lombardo’s tax-payer funded data centers “gold rush” and how he’ll protect their water and block their utility costs from going up.
The ads will air on broadcast in the Reno and Las Vegas markets starting today.
“Build” Transcript:
AARON FORD: Across Nevada, the high cost of utilities is crushing families.
FORD: But Joe Lombardo doesn’t care.
FORD: Lombardo has taken millions from data centers. And he’s handed them over $200 million of your tax dollars.
FORD: I’m Aaron Ford. When I’m governor, I’ll put the brakes on tax giveaways to data centers.
FORD: They’ll have to use their own energy, so your rates don’t go up, and not use our fresh water.
FORD: Because you deserve a governor who looks out for you, not data centers.
