Attorney General Ford Statement on “Disastrous” January Gaming Control Board Report
Attorney General Aaron Ford released the following statement in response to January’s disastrous Gaming Control Board report:
“Donald Trump and Joe Lombardo can claim that things are fine all they want but the reality is: month after month, tourism and gaming revenue have tumbled. Nevada has one of the highest unemployment rates in America and has lagged behind the rest of the nation in job growth.
“Lombardo said Nevadans should ‘feel a little pain’ from tariffs. Well, we’re feeling it. Under the Lombardo-Trump economy, families are stretched thin, living paycheck to paycheck, and struggling to afford rent, mortgages, groceries, and everyday essentials. Homelessness is rising. Health care costs are climbing. Families paid an extra $1700 in 2025 because of the Lombardo-Trump tariffs.
“Families need relief. That’s why I took the President to court and won. Now, while Lombardo still embraces Trump’s tariffs, I’m calling on Trump to refund Nevadans the more than $2.1 billion they are owed after being illegally taxed for nearly a year – and I’ll use every resource available to get that money back in the pockets of hardworking families.”
